Aston Magna Music Festival has suspended its 2020 summer season due to ongoing uncertainties about the COVID-19 virus. In addition, our final House Concert in Newton has been canceled.
The festival’s 48th season of early music, presented on period instruments, was scheduled for six venues throughout Massachusetts and Hudson, N.Y. running from July 2-Aug. 9.
If, by August, conditions have improved, Aston Magna will work to present a series of late summer events at various venues.
“We had hoped the crisis would have passed by our opening date in early July, but we now acknowledge that we may not be out of the woods by then,” said Aston Magna Executive Director Susan Obel. “If guidelines for gathering are altered, we will bring our music loving public and musicians together again with some wonderful concerts.”
Aston Magna is the nation’s longest running summer festival of early music, presented on period instruments by master musicians.
