Classical musicians’ publicity photos are getting edgier, cooler and downright intoxicating.
Take, for instance, the photos of Joan Plana, a violinist who hails from Catalunya, a region of Spain, who will play in the final concert of the Aston Magna 2014 Festival, in a program of Italian Trio Sonatas. He’s got a musical gift, and he’s got great PR photos. We’d like to share, just because we can.
Joan Plana performs with the July 17-19 Aston Magna program dedicated to Italian trio sonatas, with an all star line-up including Artistic Director and violinist Dan Stepner; Laura Jeppesen, viola da gamba; and Michael Sponseller, harpsichord. The music of Vivaldi, Corelli, Rossi, Stradella, Pernucia — and a new work, aptly named Aston Magna — will sweep the stages from Boston to the Hudson Valley to the Berkshires over a three-night tour. We’re fairly sure that Joan Plana will play just one violin at a time. For the record.
