Robert Levin: A Special Guest in 2018

Aston Magna is thrilled to welcome celebrated pianist Robert Levin on July 5, 6 & 7, 2018 for a special concert evening with a program of Brahms: The Sonatas for Piano and Violin. Levin, performing on his own 1879 Streicher grand piano, will be joined by Aston Magna Artistic Director Daniel Stepner, on period violin.

Levin’s music has been heard around the world and has been widely recorded; he is a renowned chamber pianist and passionate advocate of new music. Following a recent performance of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3, with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, a reviewer wrote:  “The result was edge-of-your-seat stuff, sometimes raising a smile, often raising eyebrows, but carried through with utter conviction and brilliant, sometimes rather hard-edged clarity.” (David Kettle, The Scotsman)

Levin’s performances regularly bring passionate reviews like this, and Aston Magna could not be more thrilled to include him in an evening of music of Brahms.

As our 2018 festival season comes together (June 14-July 21, 2018) a full array of talented and distinguished artists will join our excellent concert programs, and we will bring you more updates in coming weeks and months!
