Dr. Richard Savino, master of the guitar and theorbo, directs Aston Magna’s second 2019 festival weekend, July 11-13, Music in the Age of Peter Paul Rubens. In this evening of art and music, with Savino directing, projections of Rubens’ paintings appear as backdrops to the music of Rubens’ era.
Here, Grammy-nominated Savino talks about his musical process — touching on the music of the Beatles and early music instrumentation.
“Whenever I pick up another instrument, another door opens,” says Savino.
