The Aston Magna Chamber Players present a live holiday concert. “Music for a Winter Solstice,” with works by Handel and J.S. Bach, on stages in Hudson and Great Barrington in December.
In Hudson, the concert takes place Tuesday, Dec. 21, 7 p.m. at Hudson Hall. In Great Barrington, the concert takes place Wednesday, Dec. 22, 7 p.m. at Saint James Place.
The program, performed on period instruments, includes Handel’s Quartet Sonata in G (Op. 5, No. 4) and Cantata “Un alma inammorata.” The program also includes J. S. Bach’s Sonata movement in F and Cantata “Vergnügte Ruh.”
Mezzo-soprano Deborah Rentz-Moore joins Aston Magna musicians Daniel Stepner and Julie Leven, baroque violins; Laura Jeppesen, baroque viola and viola da gamba; Loretta O’Sullivan, baroque cello; Patricia Herreid, baroque oboe, and Peter Sykes, portatif organ.
Tickets go on sale in early December at astonmagna.org. Prices are $40 in advance, $45 at the door. Children and students free; $15 for patrons under age 30 with ID. All seating is general admission. Hudson Hall tickets will also be available for purchase in early December at the Hudson Hall website.
Guests must show proof of vaccination and ID at the door; masks required.
